Getting complacent after tasting success is the winner’s curse.

The moment something works with the first kid, be it bedtime routine, teaching to take no or eating veggies, we file it away for use with the next kid. Or the next one.

We forget that every child is different!

I have been grossly guilty of winner’s curse as a parent.

When expecting my second kid, I assumed it will be an easier journey. After all, I was not a first time parent.

It was all well till my daughter was around 2 years old.

The moment she could start asserting herself or rather gained the ability to communicate her needs and emotions, everything turned on its head.

Because she was as different from my elder daughter as chalk and cheese.

12 years on, the struggle continues. Compounded by my assumptions that I “know” because I have raised an elder kid .🤣

What about you?

Have you made assumptions about raising a kid from prior experience, only to realise that you have to re-learn for each child?

God really made each one unique, right? 😉

That’s all for today.

Adios and Happy Parenting!!
