I am big on new year resolutions.

But you already know that.

One of my resolutions this year is to walk 10k steps 3-4 times a week.

18 days into 2024 and I haven’t done that more than twice.

I have many excuses for it but I am not peddling them out.

What I am doing instead is to set a goal of 7k steps per day. So that on some days I can push and reach 10k.

Why?

Because daily is the easier to do compared to any other frequency – weekly, fortnightly or even thrice a week.

How do I know?

Because I have kept up my daily writing habit for the past couple of years. I have skipped only a handful of times. And they were genuine reasons!

If you are also struggling to start working towards a new year resolution, convert it into a daily habit.

It works.

Back in 2020, when I was struggling with my freelancing after COVID, I went full throttle on pitching.

But I was inconsistent despite the high level of motivation.

So I changed my schedule from 15 pitches twice a week to 2-3 pitches every weekday.

The total number of pitches sent every week declined, but results started pouring pretty fast.

So yes, if you want something real bad, turn them into daily habits.

ACTION TIME

Which goal or new year resolution are you struggling with?

Turn it into a daily habit.

That’s all for today.

Adios and Happy Doing!
