As grand Indian festival season wrapped up today, I’m reminded of how these celebrations offer us the perfect chance to instill values in our kids.

Being working parents, it is so important for us to use every possible opportunity to raise our kids right.

Beyond the fun, food and gifts, festivals present hands-on lessons in gratitude, respect, togetherness and importance of tradition.

Taking part in family gatherings and community events reinforces respect for others and a sense of belonging.

And simple traditions, whether it’s lighting a lamp, decorating a tree, or preparing prayer offerings, help kids learn patience, teamwork and the joy of giving.

This year we couldn’t be part of the celebrations of Chhath puja at our native village. And my daughter is more upset about it than us.

Which tells us we have not failed in instilling values and importance of family in her.
