Yesterday I promised to help you with:
One, identifying when you start slipping.
Two, pulling yourself together quickly after identifying.
To do this, you must start with identifying the 2-3 areas of your life where you frequently start slipping.
For me these include:
- exercising
- social media marketing
- writing fiction
- cooking evening snacks (this one I hate the most!!)
- pitching to potential clients
For you it could be ten different things.
But the best part is that the framework for managing this “downfall” remains the same.
Here are the steps:
- analyze past scenarios to identify triggers.
- think of ways to stop the triggers from happening. if that’s out of your hands, think of minimizing the effect it has on you.
- design workflows and establish processes to pull yourself out of this.
- follow the workflows and processes you designed for yourself.
Let’s take an example.
The scenario is this – pitching to potential clients.
If I manage to meet my my financial goals 2-3 months in a row, I get slack on pitching.
I definitely don’t want to prevent the trigger!!
But I try to minimize the undesirable effect.
Here’s is how:
I have subscribed to Patreon to get jobs delivered to my inbox every day.
I schedule 30 minutes a day in my calendar.
After missing out on two or three days in a row, guilt kicks in and I start pitching.
For personal tasks also I have processes.
For instance, if I have a fight with my hubby in the evening, the next morning I don’t feel like walking/exercising.
So I make it a point to go out when the gardener is here, and keep walking on the pretext of supervising his work!!
ACTION STEP
Pick any task where you often start slipping.
Identify the triggers.
Establish processes/systems/workflows to beat it.
Follow them the next time you slip.
That’s all for today.
Adios and Happy winging It!
