For a long time I did not like celebrating Mothers Day.

Because I felt one day is not celebrate something as encompassing, overwhelming and intrusive as motherhood!!

In fact I am not too taken by the idea of celebrating “days” because like I said, it’s not sufficient to celebrate for one day.

And we should not need a day to remind others of how critical motherhood is, for the social fabric.

Over the past 17.5 years of motherhood I have never posted anything on social media or engaged with such posts.

But this time I am taking it up as a day that I celebrate myself.

And hence this post for you all, Superlistas.

Celebrate yourself. Don’t wait for others to celebrate you. Moreover, who else but you knows all the reasons you should be celebrated for.

For making it through all the ups and down.

The all-nighters and endless arguments

The rebellious tween phase

The sulking teenage years.

Teacher’s notes.

Judgemental peer parents.

Disgruntled friends.

Furious boss.

For embracing motherhood and not regretting it ever.

You are awesome. Not by some social or familial obligation but by choice. Period.

Enjoy. Your. Day.
