In an ideal world I should have let you track time for a week first.
And only then got on to how you can gain insights from the data collected.
But this is not an ideal world and we all are restless toddlers.
And we must know what comes next, to keep us interested.
So here is what comes at the end of tracking time for 7 days:
If you didn’t make task buckets, create them now.
As I mentioned yesterday, I typically have these buckets:
- personal (sleeping, exercising, reading, etc.)
- professional (pitching, sales calls, client work, admin tasks, etc.)
- marketing (social media, networking, etc.)
- household chores
- family time
And write down how much time you spent on these tasks in the week.
You will have to manually add them, but trust me, the more time you spend with the data more clarity you get.
Once you have that data, you can see how you are spending your time.
The next step is to adjust the time spent on each category of task, about which we will talk tomorrow.
